« The Guide to World of Warcraft Mining   The Ultimate WoW Rogue Leveling Guide »

On World of Warcraft, something that you can count on is the DarkMoon Faire, it comes every month, over and over like clockwork. And with the DarkMoon Faire comes a huge opportunity for gold-making.

Even with all the changes in World of Warcraft since Wrath of the Lich King expansion came out, there’s still a lot of fast gold to be made by hanging around, camping the vendors, and buying up stocks of limited supply items at the Darkmoon Faire.

Among WoW gold guides, the best Darkmoon Faire gold-making info comes from Jonathan Kenins. He does a complete walkthrough in his Massive Gold Blueprint. In a series of step-by-step videos, he talks about how the WotLK Lich King economy changed the Darkmoon Faire farming strategy.

The short story is this: it is still possible to make a lot of profit at the Faire. It may not be quite as good as it used to be, but it’s definitely still worth spending time at DMF every time it comes around.

The Exotic Goods vendor Lhara and Professor Thaddeus are one of your best bets at making gold through the DarkMoon Faire, camp out at their booth at the back of the faire and wait for their stocks to replenish.

Herbs like Dreamfoil, Frost Lotus, Goldclover, Adder’s Tongue, Netherbloom, Black Lotus, Terocone, Wild Steelbloom, Deadnettle, and Ghost Mushroom are worth keeping your eye on. So are lower level-herbs like Earthroot, Khadgar’s Whisker, and Mageroyal.

You can also do well with some of the elementals, like Crystallized Fire, Crystallized Air, Crystallized Earth and Crystallized Life. Even the older (and less desirable) Motes can turn a profit on many servers, especially is you focus on Mote of Fire and Mote of Air.

Leathers aren’t a big deal in the DarkMoon Faire, you can still make some gold by buying and selling leather items such as the Knothide Leather and the Rugged Leather. However, the real star of the DarkMoon Faire leathers is the Arctic Fur. This leather item rarely appears in Lhara’s booth, but if you do see it, you should grab it up because you can sell it in the auction house for 25 gold and up.

A couple of items to avoid are the gems including Living Ruby, Noble Topaz, Talasite, Nightseye, Dawnstone, and Star of Elune. You can buy these at the Faire for 12g each but since Wrath of the Lich King came out, they won’t sell for anything close to that in the auction houses. Avoid the scrolls as well because they are cheaper now because of Incscription.

Flik, the little boy who runs around the Faire is also worth catching. You can buy Tree Frogs from him, and limited supply Wood Frogs. It’s advisable to stockpile on these items especially the Wood Frogs, because you can sell it through the month after DarkMoon Faire and make a good amount of gold profit.

Although the economy has changed due to Wrath of the Lich King and gold from the DarkMoon Faire has decreased from 600g to 1000g a day, to around 500g or so. It’s still a good amount of gold to earn, and it’s not that much of a hassle to do. So spending time at the DarkMoon Faire is still a good way to earn a decent amount of gold.
